In-depth guide
Compare and decide
The details: what the software covers, what it costs, how we compare with Fresha, Vagaro, Booksy and others, and what Blyssbook does not do.
What is salon management software?
It is one system that replaces the paper appointment book, the separate card machine notes and the spreadsheet of clients. A good one lets clients book online, shows each stylist's day, takes payment and tips at checkout, reminds clients before they forget, and tells you what you earned and what each person is owed. People also call it salon software, salon booking software or a salon scheduling app. The names overlap; the job is the same.
Which one is right depends on size and market. A solo stylist needs a booking link and a client list (see software for solo stylists). A five-chair salon needs the till and payroll too. A group needs branch reports. The sections below take each in turn.
What features should salon management software have?
Start with six: online booking, a calendar per staff member, a POS with tips and split payments, client records, automatic reminders, and reports with payroll. Everything else is a bonus. Here is where each sits in Blyssbook and which plan you need.
| What you need | In Blyssbook | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Online booking | A booking page at blyssbook.com/s/your-salon, with the services, staff and times you choose; works in English, Arabic and Spanish | All |
| Staff calendar | Day view with one column per team member, an Unassigned column, and Block time for breaks | All |
| POS and tips | Services and retail in one bill, tip for the staff member, split payment across cash, card and transfer, daily cash-up (salon POS) | All |
| Client records | Visit history, purchases, notes, no-show count, marketing consent, CSV import | All |
| WhatsApp booking | Rule-based Smart Booking Bot on every plan; Advanced AI Bot, which answers in normal sentences and replies to voice notes, on Professional and up (WhatsApp booking) | All / Professional+ |
| Reminders and follow-ups | 12 WhatsApp and email automations: confirmation, 24-hour and 2-hour reminders, thank you, review request, missed-appointment follow-up, birthday, win-back after 30 and 60 days | Professional+ |
| Packages and memberships | Session packs redeemed at checkout; memberships with a discount, collected by hand (details) | Professional+ |
| Commission and payroll | Percentage or fixed commission per service and product, tips on the payroll line | Professional+ |
| More than one location | Up to 10 branches with a comparison table (multi-location) | Enterprise |
| AI phone receptionist | Answers calls and books appointments; number and minutes paid separately (AI receptionist) | Enterprise |
What does a working day look like in Blyssbook?
We keep demo salons with sample clients and run real workflows in them. These screens come from those demos, captured on 12 October 2026.
A client books online
The client opens your link, chooses a service, then a team member and a time. They only see slots that are free. You set this up under Salon Setup → Services & Prices and Online Booking.

You see the day, one column per person
Bookings → Calendar shows every team member's day side by side. Press New Booking to add a walk-in or phone booking, or Block time for lunch and leave.

Reminders go out on WhatsApp
Under AI & Automation → Automations you switch each message on and can edit its wording. Sends come from your own WhatsApp Business number using a template Meta has approved, so the number has to be connected first. Professional and Enterprise run all 12; Starter sends no automated reminders.

Checkout with tips and split payments
In POS / Checkout pick the booking, add products, choose a tip for the staff member and split the bill, for example $40 cash and the rest on card. Sales tax is added at the rate you set. The tip goes to that person's payroll line.

Client history and the numbers
Each client has a profile with visits, lifetime spend, no-shows, upcoming booking and service history. Reports → Analytics shows net sales (after discounts, without tax or tips), average sale, appointments, completion rate, no-show rate and new clients, compared with the previous period.

We wanted to quote real no-show rates and booking lead times from salons on Blyssbook. Our rule is to publish a figure only when it covers at least 10 salons and 1,000 bookings. On 12 October 2026 the sample was well below that, so we haven't quoted one. We'll run it again in January 2027.

How much does salon management software cost?
Blyssbook is $11, $21 or $49 a month, or ten times the monthly price for a year. That is about £9, £16 and £37 in the UK and ₹999, ₹1,999 and ₹4,699 in India. Most salons choose Professional, because the reminders and commissions live there.
| Plan | USD (charged) | UK | India | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $11 | £9 | ₹999 | Online booking page, calendar, POS with retail, client records, inventory, WhatsApp Smart Booking Bot. Up to 5 staff, 500 clients, 200 bookings a month. No automated reminders. |
| Professional | $21 | £16 | ₹1,999 | Adds the 12 WhatsApp and email automations (including 24-hour and 2-hour reminders), Advanced AI Bot, packages, memberships, loyalty, deposits, commissions and payroll. Up to 15 staff, 2,000 clients, 1,000 bookings a month. |
| Enterprise | $49 | £37 | ₹4,699 | Adds up to 10 branches, unlimited staff, waitlist, branch comparison reports and the AI phone receptionist (number and minutes paid separately). |
There's no commission on bookings and no per-message WhatsApp fee from Blyssbook. Meta may bill you separately for some business-initiated WhatsApp conversations. Full details are on the pricing page, with country versions for the US, UK and India.
Which is the best salon management software: Blyssbook, Fresha, Vagaro, Booksy, Mindbody, GlossGenius, Square or Zenoti?

Pick Vagaro, Booksy, GlossGenius or Square if you want text reminders or card processing built in. Pick Mindbody or Zenoti for large, multi-site businesses that want a vendor to onboard them.

The longer head-to-heads: Blyssbook vs Fresha, Vagaro, Booksy, Mindbody, GlossGenius and Zenoti.
Where the others are the better choice
- Text reminders. Mindbody (Accelerate and up), Booksy and Fresha send texts; Blyssbook can send them only through your own Twilio or Telnyx account.
- Built-in US card processing. Vagaro, GlossGenius and Square run their own, with rates on their pages. Blyssbook takes online payments only through your own Stripe account.
- A free plan. Square lists one for solo professionals; Blyssbook starts at $11.
- Shared rooms and equipment. Zenoti and Mindbody (Accelerate and up) list room and resource booking. Blyssbook books people, not rooms.
- Gift cards and automatic membership billing. Zenoti lists gift cards; Mindbody lists automatic membership renewals. Blyssbook has neither.
- Marketplace demand. Fresha, Booksy and Mindbody have consumer apps where new clients can find you. Blyssbook has no consumer marketplace.
What doesn't Blyssbook do?
- Reminders go by WhatsApp (Professional and up), email or text (SMS, through your own Twilio or Telnyx account).
- No gift cards or vouchers.
- No room, chair or equipment calendar: it books staff only.
- No offline mode. It needs an internet connection.
- No automatic membership billing: you press Collect payment on the due date.
- No working intake or consultation forms yet.
- Online card payments only through your own Stripe account; there is no Blyssbook card processing.
- Not a tax or e-invoicing system: VAT or sales tax prints on invoices, and filing is yours.
- Reminders and WhatsApp automations need Professional; the AI phone receptionist needs Enterprise.
Which kind of salon is it built for?
It suits independent salons and small groups that want one flat price and take bookings on WhatsApp. Each business type has its own page with that trade's workflow: hair salons, beauty salons, nail salons, barber shops, spas and solo stylists. For your country, see the US, the UK and India. The dashboard and booking page work in English, Arabic and Spanish.
How do you move your salon from other software?
- Export your client list as a CSV from your current system.
- In Blyssbook, open Customers → Import clients and upload the file. Exports from Fresha, Booksy, Vagaro, Mindbody, GlossGenius, Zenoti and Square are matched by their column names; you check the preview before importing.
- Add your services, staff and opening hours by hand. Services, future appointments and package balances don't import, so keep a list of open packages and honour them at checkout.
- Connect WhatsApp, switch on the reminders and share your booking link.
Questions during setup go to the team through the contact page, by email or WhatsApp.
