Mindbody's pricing page says from $79 a month for its entry plan, or from $99 per location in its header.[1] If you book salon or spa appointments rather than classes, Blyssbook ($11, $21 or $49 a month), Vagaro (from $30) and Boulevard (from $143) are the usual alternatives. Stay with Mindbody if you run classes or need memberships that bill cards on their own.
How much does Mindbody cost, and is anything cheaper?
Mindbody doesn't show a price per plan. Its header reads "Starting at $99 USD/month per location", while its FAQ says the entry-level plan starts at $79 USD a month in North America and Asia. The two numbers disagree on the same page, so ask for a written quote.[1] Starter, Accelerate and Ultimate all say "Let's talk". There is no onboarding fee, but data transfer "fees may apply", and card payments carry a processing rate plus $0.10 to $0.30 per transaction.[1]
Cheaper options exist if you only book appointments. Blyssbook is $11, $21 or $49 a month. Vagaro is $30, then $10 for each extra calendar.[5] Both have a free trial (14 and 30 days). Mindbody lists none.[1] On plan fees alone, $79 against Blyssbook's $11 is $816 a year, but the plans aren't equal: see the table below and the list of what Blyssbook lacks.
Does Mindbody charge a fee on new clients?
Only on clients who come from the Mindbody app. Listing your business there is free, and the fee is 20% of a new client's first purchase, capped at $30. Existing clients and tracked referrals carry no fee.[1] Whether that is a good deal depends on how many new clients the app brings you. Blyssbook charges no such fee. It has no consumer app, only a directory listing on Enterprise, so don't count on it to send you clients.

When is Mindbody the better choice?
- You run classes. Mindbody schedules classes and appointments.[2] Blyssbook books one client with one staff member at a time and has no class capacity, rosters or drop-in passes.
- You want memberships that bill themselves. Mindbody's FAQ says memberships bill automatically each cycle.[1] In Blyssbook a member who is due shows as Payment due until staff collect. See memberships and packages for how it works.
- You need rooms and resources. Mindbody offers room and resource management on Accelerate and above.[1] Blyssbook has a calendar column per staff member only.
- Your clients expect text messages. Mindbody sends text reminders from Accelerate.[1] Blyssbook can send them too, through your own Twilio or Telnyx account, plus WhatsApp and email.
- You want new clients from a marketplace. Mindbody says its app has more than 3 million active users.[2] Blyssbook has no consumer app and only an Enterprise directory listing. Clients mostly find you through your own booking page, Google and social links.
- You run many sites or a mixed fitness and spa business. Mindbody lists multi-location enterprise. Blyssbook tops out at 10 branches on Enterprise.
What does Blyssbook do instead?
Blyssbook is built for appointment businesses, so the screens are short. Four that matter when you leave a bigger system:
Therapist or stylist calendar. One column per person, with bookings coloured by status.
Memberships and packages. Monthly plans with a service discount, and prepaid session bundles. Staff record each payment. Included on Professional ($21) and up.
WhatsApp, with an AI bot. Confirmations and the 24-hour and 2-hour reminders go out on WhatsApp on Professional and up. The Advanced AI Bot answers and books in the same chat; you can try it before you sign up.
Commissions. A rule per person and earnings per pay period, on Professional and up.
What Blyssbook doesn't do (yet)
- No group classes, capacity limits or drop-in passes.
- No room or resource calendar and no gift cards.
- No automatic charging of membership fees. Staff collect each payment.
- No offline mode. It needs a data connection.
- No automated reminders on Starter. Reminders, deposits, memberships and commissions start on Professional.
- Plan caps: Starter allows 5 staff, 500 clients and 200 bookings a month; Professional 15 staff, 2,000 clients and 1,000 bookings, one branch. Enterprise has unlimited staff, clients and bookings, and up to 10 branches.
- Online card payments only through your own Stripe account. No built-in card processing.

How do you switch from Mindbody to Blyssbook?
Plan on a day to set up, then a short overlap while your booked appointments play out.
- Export your clients from Mindbody as a CSV. We haven't seen Mindbody's own export screens, so follow its help pages or ask its support.
- Import into Blyssbook. Open Customers → Import clients and upload the CSV or tab-separated file, up to 20,000 clients per file. Mindbody exports are among the formats the importer is built for, and it guesses the column matches from your headers. It brings in name, phone, email, birthday, notes, tags, lifetime spend, visit and no-show counts and last visit. You choose whether to skip or fill in clients already in Blyssbook, and check the preview before importing.
- Mind the consent box. Marketing consent doesn't transfer with a spreadsheet. Tick the box only if you collected it; otherwise clients are bookable but left out of campaigns.
- Rebuild services, staff and commissions by hand: your menu, your team and a commission rule per person.
- Re-enter future appointments. The import brings clients, not bookings. Add the next two weeks by hand, or let them run out in Mindbody.
- Re-create memberships and packages. Existing members and their payment dates don't come across. Set up the plans under Sales → Members and enrol each person.
- Check your Mindbody contract before you cancel: its page says terms depend on your plan and that cancelling may need advance notice.[1] Then swap the booking link on your website and social profiles.

What is the best alternative to Mindbody for a salon?
For a salon or spa that books appointments, not classes, Blyssbook ($11 to $49 a month), Vagaro (from $30 a month) and Boulevard (from $143) are the usual shortlist, and Zenoti suits larger groups on a quote. Pick Mindbody itself if you run classes or want memberships that bill cards automatically.

Can I move my Mindbody clients into Blyssbook?
Yes. Export your client list as a CSV and upload it under Customers → Import clients. Appointments, memberships and gift cards don't import, so re-enter future bookings and re-create membership plans by hand.
Does Blyssbook bill memberships automatically?
No. Blyssbook memberships track the next payment date, and staff press Collect payment when the member pays. Nothing charges a saved card. Mindbody lists automatic membership renewals, so it is the better fit if autopay matters.
